VAN NUYS>> California business aviation hub Van Nuys Airport has completed the first phase of a $26.3 million, nine-step rehabilitation project on Taxiway B. The work at the Los Angeles-area gateway included a full-depth restoration of the north end of the taxiway, along with enhanced markings, installation of embedded and elevated LED guard lights, a new blast fence east of Runway 16L, and upgraded signage.

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) elected its new board of directors, naming as chairman Curt Castagna, president and CEO of Aeroplex/Aerolease Group. VAN NUYS >>Aviation professionals gathered Thursday at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys to hear about the benefits of alternative jet fuel.

The “Business Jets Fuel Green: A Step Toward Sustainability” event was attended by about 170 people. It marked the official launch of sustainable alternative jet fuels on the market, with Van Nuys the first general aviation airport in the U.S. to offer this fuel on a trial basis and providing a model for offering the fuel at other airports.

VAN NUYS >>The business aviation industry’s focus yesterday centered on California’s Van Nuys Airport, where “Business Jets Fuel Green: A Step Towards Sustainability” took place, marking the first time sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAJF) was made available for retail sale to aircraft operators. World Fuel Services provided 8,000 gallons of the blended renewable fuel produced by California-based World Energy for the event, while Gevo, through its distributor Avfuel, offered another 6,200 gallons, which were delivered to the FBOs on the field and mixed into their fuel supplies.

VAN NUYS >>A business-aviation industry project to support development of sustainable alternative jet fuels was in the spotlight at a demonstration event at California’s Van Nuys Airport.

VAN NUYS >>The Van Nuys Airport recently became the first general aviation airport in the U.S. to test sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAJF) for business travel.  It’s one of the busiest airports of its kind inf the world and Signature Flight Support is its largest fixed-base operator.
